Larpocracy at The Smoke Festival

The Larpocracy team will join The Smoke in the United Kingdom this year to run three larps designed in the project: The Assembly, Sandleford, and the world premiere of Midsummer in Walden. Here is the information:

Sandleford

Jon Back, Fuoco Balduzzi, Annika Waern and Weronika Szatskowska

Sunday, Jan, 10, 11:00

In this larp we explore how we can resist, accept, and live with the results of democratic decisions, whether we agree on the outcome or not. The game is not about changing decisions, it is about how you as an individual can resist, change

and adapt, within a democratic society.

The mine made the town, and the town made the mine. For more than a century they have grown together, under and above ground respectively. The mine shafts now sprawl in all directions, partly undermining the town. Furthermore, some of the richest mineral veins stretch even further under Sandleford. While children still play in the playgrounds and schools and shops are still open, large areas are no longer safe and even larger risk becoming affected. It has become clear that the whole town needs to move.

The game is set AFTER a divisive decision to move the whole city, a decision which has been democratically made. Some people love it, some people hate it, some people think this is a necessary discomfort for the greater good.

A group of people, champions in their local pub quiz night, gather each week to play the quiz. This larp is about their discussion of the decision and of the recent events in town.

Where: Theatre Deli, Building 3, Moretown, London E1W 1YW, London
