Larpocracy members attend the BEtaLarp conference in Charleroi, Belgium!
This month, Larpocracy's Piotrek Warzyszynski from Europe4Youth and Sarah Lynne Bowman from Uppsala University attended BEtaLarp, Nov. 14-16, 2025! Hosted by the Belgian Larp federation (BE Larp), BEtaLarp focuses on workshops and lectures on topics relevant to the larp community in Belgium and beyond.
Warzyszynski represented work package 5, which examines the community creation practices of larp festivals. As an example, at BEtaLarp, the organizers showed their interest in the theme of transformation as well as sustainability by having badges embedded with seeds, so that participants could plant their badges when they returned home.
Bowman delivered a keynote on how larp can be designed to cultivate interpersonal and social change entitled, "The Psychology of Interpersonal and Social Dynamics in Larp."
Both members had a great time connecting with old and new friends alike, as well as learning more about the local Belgian larp scene. The event also established a link to the Palestinian larp community, as the group from the Seen Youth Network led a workshop presenting larp design practices in Palestine.
