Two Larpocracy studies presented at the Transformative Play Initiative Seminar 2025!

News entry by Sarah Lynne Bowman.

Larpocracy
had a strong presence this month at the Transformative Play Initiative Seminar 2025: Games, Conflict, and Education in Visby, Sweden.

On June 12, Karin Johansson from Uppsala University and Mafalda Morganti from Chaos League presented ‘Larping with Erasmus: A Quantitative Study of Larp Projects Funded by EU through the Erasmus+ Program,’ which analyzes over 100 projects for key themes and trends.

On June 13, Karin joined Weronika Szatkowska from Uppsala University, presented work in progress about ‘Political Conflicts and Democratic Deliberation as Larp Design Considerations.’ Building upon data gathered from 6 workshops with larp designers, the presentation examined the distinction between designing for polarization versus deliberation.

We are delighted to share these early results from the project with role-playing game academics and practitioners! Stay tuned for potential publication developments.
