British DiGRA 2026

Larpocracy researchers Weronika Szatkowska and Sarah Lynne Bowman from Uppsala University presented at British DiGRA 2026, sharing preliminary findings from ongoing research into democracy-themed larps.

The presentation explored the “golden moments” participants recall from their larp experiences, examining activities such as collaboration, communication, listening and empathy, decision-making, protest and resistance, and collective creation. The research investigates how these experiences can contribute to understanding democracy as an active, participatory practice and how skills developed through larp might transfer into participants’ everyday civic and professional lives.

The research also includes contributions from Karin Johansson (Uppsala University), Marcin Słowikowski, Barbara Mos and Piotr Warzyszyński (Europe4Youth), and Kjell Hedgard Hugaas (LARPifiers).
