Paper on the Effects of Larp on Democratic Participation presented at the Larp Research Seminar

On April 25, 2026, Larpocracy members presented "Democracy in Live Action: A Mixed Method Research Design Investigating Political Larps and the Participants who Play Them" at the Larp Research Seminar at the University of Gothenburg / Chalmers University. The paper briefly outlines methods underpinning several studies in work packages 2 and 3, emphasising the effects existing larps and those designed in the project might have on democratic values and skills. The presentation was delivered by Sarah Lynne Bowman and Weronika Szatkowska (Uppsala University), Barbara Mos, Marcin Słowikowski, and Piotrek Warzyszynski (Europe4Youth).

The Larp Research Seminar was organised by Larpocracy members Hanne Grasmo (Tampere University) and Josephine Rydberg (Domain Expert Panel). Next, the organisers will decide which articles will proceed to peer review in a special issue of the International Journal of Role-playing.
